56 Pieces - 17.83%
Well, let me start by saying that there was a sudden burst of kindness from the people above on the boat and I ended up getting most of friday, and all of saturday off. They were both pretty good days, spent some time outside in the uncharacteristically warm Washington weather, did some much needed yard work, and went to an excellent dinner party with some great friends. Today though, it's back to work, so I figured that I should get back to work on the old falcon.
Today's work consisted of four small sections on the top of the Falcon. I'm not sure if they will even be visible when all is said and done, but if LEGO says they need to be there, then they must. The issue that I ran into this morning was that all of the pieces that I was looking for were tiny and some of them were extremely obscure. I felt like I spent my entire half hour searching the same bags over and over again for just a few pieces. In the end I found them all, but I ended up asking myself a question in the process. If I get to a piece that I can't find and determine that it is not functional, can I skip it and when I find it later come back and place it? I feel like this would be against the spirit of the project, but at the same time, I am using a lot of time looking for these aesthetic pieces that are very hard to find. I'm open to suggestions.
My last topic for today is what is coming up. The landing gear. There are seven identical landing gear on the Falcon, each of them containing 49 separate tiny pieces. So, the next post will probably be more about finding and organizing all of these pieces rather than any actual building. I anticipate the entire landing gear process to take upwards of 3 posts, it's gonna be fun. One of my friends from work who has done this said that the landing gear were the most difficult part. Into the breach I suppose.
The Four Sections from Today, See if you can find them.
